The vocational center at SCEI was developed out of the need to accommodate our older students as they outgrew the school system. The center uses unconventional teaching methods to create an environment that is conducive to their cognitive, developmental and social needs. This center now operates under the ‘Sunflowers’ label.

Our main objective is to create brand recognition for Sunflowers by SCEI, so that people attribute our products to the handicapped, thus changing the assumption that these individuals are worthless and unable to contribute to society. Also the success of our products will create opportunities for these individuals to have meaningful long term work that will eventually create a financial return. The greater the demand for these products, the greater the demand for opening more vocational centers that are safe working environments for individuals with special needs. This in turn will alleviate the exploitation of such individuals.
